This constituency covers an approximate area of 722.72 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 24°25'16.7"N 87°01'08.0"E.

In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Badal of INC won in this constituency beating Devendra Kunwar of BJP by a margin of 3,099 votes which was 01.90% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Badal of INC was the winner in this seat beating Hari Narayan Ray of JMM by a margin of 2,708 votes which was 1.77% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Harinarayan Ray of IND won this seat defeating Devendra Kunwar of JMM by a margin of 10,487 votes which was 9.03% of the total votes polled for the seat.
