Tundi comprises of the following areas of Dhanbad district in the North Jharkhand region of Jharkhand: Tundi police station in Dhanbad Sadar sub-division; Topchanchi police station and Gram Panchayats Dharkiro, Daludih, Rajganj, Bagdaha, Dhawachita, Nagri Kalan and Ramkanalichandur in Katras police station in Baghmara sub-division.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 646.43 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 23°54'34.9"N 86°14'03.1"E.

A total of eight Assembly constituencies in the state of Jharkhand share borders with Tundi constituency, which are: Dumri, Giridih, Gandey, Jamtara, Nirsa, Sindri, Dhanbad, Baghmara. This constituency shares an inter-state border with .

In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Mathura Prasad Mahato of JMM won in this constituency beating Vikram Pandey of BJP by a margin of 25,659 votes which was 13.26% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Raj Kishore Mahato of AJSU was the winner in this seat beating Mathura Prasad Mahato of JMM by a margin of 1,126 votes which was 0.64% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Mathura Prasad Mahato of JMM won this seat defeating Saba Ahmad of JVM by a margin of 918 votes which was 0.68% of the total votes polled for the seat.
