Demographic profile

There were a total of 2,51,087 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly election in Sonipat Assembly constituency, of which 1,30,292 were male, 1,20,790 female and 5 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,16,117 registered voters, of which 1,13,656 were male, 1,02,459 female and 2 from the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 1,80,608 registered voters in this constituency, of which 95,250 were male and 85,358 female. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 1,30,175 which included 70,077 male and 60,098 female voters.

In the 2019 Haryana Assembly elections, Surender Panwar of INC won in this constituency beating Kavita Jain of BJP by a margin of 32,878 votes which was 24.63% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Kavita Jain of BJP was the winner in this seat beating Dev Raj Diwan of INC by a margin of 25,810 votes which was 20.8% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Kavita Jain of BJP won this seat defeating Anil Kumar Thakkar of INC by a margin of 2,657 votes which was 3.25% of the total votes polled for the seat.
