Demographic profile

There were a total of 3,53,060 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly election in Jamua Assembly constituency, of which 1,83,514 were male, 1,69,545 female and 1 of the third gender. Assembly constituency no.30. Jamua comprises of the following areas of Giridih district in the North Jharkhand region of Jharkhand: Jamua and Deori police stations in Giridih Sadar sub-division.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 949.7 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 24°25'23.9"N 86°09'31.7"E.

A total of three Assembly constituencies in the state of Jharkhand share borders with Jamua constituency, which are: Dhanwar, Bagodar, Gandey. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Jamui district of Bihar.

Voter turnout

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, in the 2024 Jharkhand Assembly elections, the estimated voter turnout in this Jharkhand constituency was 60.87%. In 2019, this seat registered a turnout of 59.29%, while it was 58.99% in 2014 and 55.34% in 2009. The estimated turnout in 2024 was -1.58% compared to the 2019 turnout.

In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Kedar Hazra of BJP won in this constituency beating Manju Kumari of INC by a margin of 18,175 votes which was 10.47% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Kedar Hazra of BJP was the winner in this seat beating Satya Narayan Das of JVM by a margin of 23,100 votes which was 14.56% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Chandrika Mahtha of JVM won this seat defeating Satya Narayan Das of CPIMLL by a margin of 18,527 votes which was 14.66% of the total votes polled for the seat.
