Assembly constituency no.7. Shikaripara comprises of the following areas of Dumka district in the Santhal Parganas region of Jharkhand: Sikaripara, Raneshwar and Kathikundl police stations in Dumka Sadar sub-division.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 1101.36 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 24°13'18.5"N 87°27'34.9"E.

A total of four Assembly constituencies in the state of Jharkhand share borders with Shikaripara constituency, which are: Maheshpur, Littipara, Jama, Dumka. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Birbhum district of West Bengal.

In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Nalin Soren of JMM won in this constituency beating Paritosh Soren of BJP by a margin of 29,471 votes which was 19.22% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Nalin Soren of JMM was the winner in this seat beating Paritosh Soren of JVM by a margin of 24,501 votes which was 16.64% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Nalin Soren of JMM won this seat defeating Paritosh Soren of JVM by a margin of 1,003 votes which was 0.93% of the total votes polled for the seat.
