Assembly constituency no.38. Sindri comprises of the following areas of Dhanbad district in the North Jharkhand region of Jharkhand: Sindri, Baliapur and Gobindpur police stations in Dhanbad Sadar sub-division.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 481.52 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 23°47'24.4"N 86°30'29.9"E.

A total of five Assembly constituencies in the state of Jharkhand share borders with Sindri constituency, which are: Chandankyari, Jharia, Dhanbad, Tundi, Nirsa. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Purulia district of West Bengal.

In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Indrajit Mahato of BJP won in this constituency beating Anand Mahato of MCO by a margin of 8,253 votes which was 03.63% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Fulchand Mandal of BJP was the winner in this seat beating Anand Mahato of MCO by a margin of 6,548 votes which was 3.24% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Phul Chand Mandal of JVM won this seat defeating Anand Mahato of MCO by a margin of 3,760 votes which was 2.68% of the total votes polled for the seat.
