Seeman

NTK | Karaikudi |
ਪਿੱਛੇ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ

Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief Seeman is contesting the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections from the Karaikudi constituency in Sivaganga district, marking a strategic shift in his electoral approach after two unsuccessful attempts in previous elections.

Seeman, who made his electoral debut in 2016 from Cuddalore and later contested from Thiruvottiyur in 2021, has chosen Karaikudi this time in a bid to improve his prospects. The move is seen as calculated, given the constituency’s proximity to his native region near Ilayankudi and the party’s relatively better vote share here in the last election.

Despite these factors, the contest remains challenging. Karaikudi has turned into a multi-cornered battle, with Congress’ sitting MLA S Mangudi, AMMK’s Therpogi Pandi, and TVK’s TK Prabhu also in the fray.

Seeman’s political identity is closely tied to his leadership of NTK and his emphasis on Tamil nationalism and alternative governance models. His party has consistently positioned itself against both Dravidian majors, advocating structural reforms rather than welfare-driven politics. In its 2026 manifesto, NTK has proposed ambitious ideas such as the creation of five capital cities across Tamil Nadu and prioritising sectors like education, healthcare, agriculture and infrastructure.

Rejecting the culture of freebies, Seeman has argued for long-term economic empowerment, promising employment opportunities and universal access to essential services such as education, healthcare and drinking water. His rhetoric often centres on self-reliance and sustainable development.

Backed by a dedicated cadre base, whom he refers to as 'thambigal' (younger brothers), Seeman’s campaign relies heavily on grassroots mobilisation, including street-corner meetings and public outreach programmes. However, critics point to his shifting constituencies across elections as a sign of inconsistency, even as supporters frame it as a strategic recalibration.

Seeman’s contest from Karaikudi is being closely watched as a test of whether his ideological politics and growing cadre base can translate into electoral success in a constituency marked by strong local and party-level competition.

Candidate Info: Seeman is the Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) candidate contesting from Karaikudi (General) Assembly constituency for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. This male candidate is 60 years of age, according to the election affidavit submitted to the Election Commission of India.
